This follows from statements of the servicer, as the “Handelsblatt” reported on Wednesday. The demands for the equivalent of 34 billion euros represent not only the German banks, but also the Association of German Banks (BdB) and the Bundesbank. This amount is proud but not flow well, but only a fraction of them.

Experts propose that the sum is misleading, and only a theoretical size.

Many banks had made requests, although they have even Lehman paper and counterclaims in their possession. In a better market environment, they could sell the securities in the future with yield, was reported from Frankfurt banking circles. Moreover, in view of the huge number of creditors the chance to actually get money from the bankruptcy estate is small.

The investment bank Lehman Brothers had on 15 September 2008 declared bankruptcy. The bust is considered to be the cause of the global financial and economic crisis. The debts of the investment bank should have amounted, according to newspaper originally on 613 billion U.S. dollars.

The largest item is from Germany, according to newspaper report on the banking association, which has logged more than 25.7 billion U.S. dollars. The association did not confirm that amount upon request. As reported from districts in Berlin, these are to money, has compensated with which the deposit insurance fund, investors who had invested at Lehman Germany and lost money because of the bankruptcy of the bank. These were private savings, but also local communities.

The Bundesbank is equivalent to about 10.4 billion U.S. dollars claimed. “Lehman has refinanced at the Bundesbank and deposited in accordance with securities, said a Bundesbank spokesman, who called the sum. The amount will urge the German Bundesbank, on behalf of all the central banks of the Eurosystem. Pending a decision, it would probably take years.

Leaders among the domestic banks is loud, “Handelsblatt, the German bank, call the only about 6.3 billion U.S. dollars. The bank would not confirm that amount. Because of capital market transactions such as hedging transactions is the bank from the Lehman bankruptcy, however, no damage, “said a spokesman. Commerzbank has signed 4.9 billion U.S. dollars. “” We have made arrangements for all identifiable risks, “said a Commerzbank spokesman.
